24/7 emergency plumber and boiler repairs in Morley and south Leeds
Boiler broken down, no heating or hot water, a burst pipe or a leak? Andy Brearley takes emergency call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across Morley and south Leeds. Ring him.
Smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm going off? Don't ring Andy first.
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. It's free and answers 24 hours a day. Open the doors and windows, don't use switches, turn the gas off at the meter if it's safe to reach, and get everyone outside. Once it's been made safe, Andy can do the repair.
What Andy comes out for
Heating and plumbing emergencies, day or night
If it can't wait until the morning, ring. If it can, such as a dripping tap or a service that's due, send the details and Andy will book it in office hours.
- Boiler breakdowns. No heating, no hot water, a boiler that keeps locking out or showing a fault code.
- Burst and leaking pipes. Including water coming through a ceiling.
- Leaking boilers, cylinders and radiators. Water where it shouldn't be, around the heating system.
- Gas repairs after a leak. Once the National Gas Emergency Service has made the supply safe, the faulty appliance or pipework needs a Gas Safe engineer.
- Rented homes. Landlords and letting agents with a tenant who has no heat or hot water.
While you wait
What to do right now
Safe first steps for the four most common emergencies. None of them involve opening the boiler: anything inside the case is a job for a Gas Safe engineer.
You smell gas or a CO alarm is sounding
- Call 0800 111 999 from a phone away from the smell.
- Open doors and windows. Don't use light switches or electrical items, and put out any naked flames.
- Turn the gas off at the meter if it's safe to reach, then leave and keep other people out.
- Headache, dizziness, sickness or drowsiness? Get into fresh air and call 999.
A pipe has burst or something is leaking
- Turn the water off at the stopcock. It's usually under the kitchen sink, or where the water pipe comes into the house.
- Switch the boiler off, then open the cold taps to drain the pipes.
- If water is near sockets or light fittings, switch the electricity off at the fuse box, but only if you can reach it without touching anything wet.
- Catch what you can, move what you can, then ring Andy.
No heating or no hot water
- Check the boiler has power, and that the gas is on (try the hob, if you have one).
- Check the thermostat and timer are calling for heat.
- Look at the pressure gauge. Most boilers want about 1 to 1.5 bar when cold. The manual shows how to top it up.
- Still nothing? Note the make and any fault code on the display, and ring.
Freezing weather and the boiler has stopped
- The usual cause is a frozen condensate pipe: the white or grey plastic pipe that runs from the boiler to a drain outside.
- Pour warm water, not boiling, slowly along it, or hold a hot water bottle on it.
- Then press the boiler's reset button once. If it locks out again, ring.
How it works
What happens when you ring
Tell Andy what's happened
Your postcode, what you can see, and the boiler make and fault code if it's a boiler. It helps him bring the right parts.
Hear the cost first
Andy tells you the call-out charge before he sets off. Nothing goes on the bill you haven't been told about.
Made safe, then fixed
Stopping the water or making the appliance safe comes first. If the repair needs a part, you hear what it is and what it costs before it's ordered.

Questions
Emergency call-out questions
Do you do 24-hour emergency call-outs?
Yes. Andy takes emergency call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across Morley, Leeds and south Leeds. Ring 07712 584 931, day or night. Planned work, quotes and servicing are booked in office hours, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
How much does an emergency call-out cost?
It depends on the time of day and the job, so Andy tells you the call-out charge on the phone before he sets off. Nothing goes on the bill that you have not been told about first. If the repair needs a part, he tells you what it is and what it costs before ordering it.
I can smell gas. Should I ring you?
Not first. Ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. It is free, open 24 hours, and will make the gas supply safe. It does not repair boilers or appliances, so once the supply is safe, ring Andy for the repair.
My boiler has stopped working. Is that an emergency?
No heating in cold weather, or no hot water in a house with a baby, an older person or someone unwell, is worth ringing about straight away. Run through the checks on this page first: some breakdowns are low pressure, a tripped switch or a frozen condensate pipe, and you can sort those yourself in a few minutes.
Can I use the quote form or email in an emergency?
Please ring instead. The form and email are read in office hours, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Out of hours, the phone is the quickest way to reach Andy.
Is the engineer Gas Safe registered?
Yes. Any work on a gas boiler has to be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and Andy is one. Brearley Gas Services is on the Gas Safe Register as business 303975, and Andy's licence card number is 6059705. Ask to see the card when he arrives.
