Privacy notice

What we do with the details you send us. Short, because there isn't much.

Who we are

Brearley Gas Services, run by Andy Brearley (Brearley Plumbing and Heating Services Ltd, company number 14391564, registered office 1 Victoria Court, Bank Square, Morley, Leeds LS27 9SE). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: info@brearleygas.co.uk or 07712 584 931.

What we collect

When you send a quote request: your name, phone number, postcode, the job you want done and, if you add them, your email address and message. Nothing else.

Why, and our legal basis

To reply to your enquiry and give you a price. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form, and on our legitimate interest in answering a request you have made to us.

How the form sends your details

Your details are sent securely to our enquiry inbox through Netlify, our website host, which stores the submission and emails it to us on our behalf.

Finance

If you ask about finance, we may pass your name and contact details to a lender or broker so they can contact you. We do that only after you ask.

The AI assistant

The website has an AI chat assistant that answers questions about Andy Brearley's services, prices and areas. It is a computer program, not a person, and it can make mistakes, so check anything important with Andy Brearley. It does not make decisions about you.

Where your messages go. To write an answer, your message and the last few messages of the chat are sent to DeepSeek, an AI company whose servers are outside the UK (in China). That is a transfer of data outside the UK, where legal protections for it may be weaker. For that reason we remove email addresses, phone numbers and the second half of any postcode from your message before it leaves our server, and the chat asks you not to type personal details. If you do type your name, address or anything sensitive, it goes to DeepSeek too, so please use the quote form or phone Andy Brearley for that instead. DeepSeek also receives a scrambled identifier derived from your connection, which cannot be turned back into your address, so that one visitor's requests can be told apart. How DeepSeek then handles data is set out in its own privacy policy.

What we keep. Nothing from the chat is stored on our servers. Your conversation stays in your own browser tab and disappears when you close it, or when you press "New chat". To stop abuse we count how many messages each scrambled connection sends, and delete those counts within a few days. Our hosting provider keeps its usual technical logs of requests.

Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering questions from people who ask them. Using the assistant is optional: you can always phone, email or use the form instead. Monthly payment figures it gives are illustrations only, not an offer of credit. If you want to ask about this or object, contact us using the details above.

Cookies and tracking

We run no advertising or tracking cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 only if you accept it, to see which pages help people and which do not. Until you choose, the tag runs with analytics storage denied: nothing is written to your device and nothing that identifies you is recorded.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets a small number of cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) for up to two years, and we use the reports only in aggregate. We never use it for advertising, we do not sell or share the data, and we make no attempt to identify individual visitors. Google acts as our processor and its own privacy terms cover that processing.

You can change your mind at any time: . Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under brearley-analytics-consent, not in a cookie. The chat assistant keeps your conversation in your browser's session storage (also not a cookie) until you close the tab.

How long we keep it

If you do not become a customer, we delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you do, we keep job records for as long as the law and your warranty require.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, at any time by contacting us. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
